One year ago today an epic gastronomic battle started in Lyon, France. It was the first day of the two day Bocuse d’Or cooking competition, ultimately won by Denmark’s masterful Rasmus Kofoed. The team from the United States, consisting of Kames Kent and Tom Allan, both of Eleven Madison Park, made a valiant effort, but ultimately came up short of the podium. The selection of the American team for next year’s Bocuse d’Or will take place this weekend at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. to be judged by some of America’s most respected toques. This may just be the contestant who puts America on this prestigious podium. The competition is open to the public. Check it out!
